The Yale Drop Team has designed and built a sophisticated experiment. Under zero gravity, these two plates will be charged to create a powerful electric field, which should alter the shape of liquid droplets suspended between them. The team hopes to observe a phenomenon called Taylor Cone hysteresis, insights into which might provide interesting applications to mass spectrometry and satellite propulsion.
